Stan E. Olson

Stan E. Olson, age 61, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 5:00 am Sunday February 7th at his residence. Stan was born on June 29, 1948 in Monmouth and was the son of Leonard and Mildred Wayland Olson. Stan was raised in the Monmouth area and attended local schools and graduated from Warren High School in 1966. Stan married Denise "Dee" Noe on October 3, 1981 in Galesburg, Illinois. After schooling, Stan was employed by Tri-State Components in Orion, Illinois making pre-fab housing. After this Stan was an over-the-road driver for Dohrn Transfer in Peoria, Illinois for a number of years. Stan then was employed by " Dekalb " Hybrid Seedcorn for a number of years. His last employment was working for Monmouth Grain and Dryer and Big River Resources of Monmouth, as a driver. Stan also organized and chaired the local drive for Parkinson's disease in Monmouth, and participated in the Parkinson's walk in Peoria, IL in prior years. Stan loved to cook out on the BBQ. He also was chairman and participated with the Cook-off committee for the Warren County Prime Beef Festival. Stan is survived by his wife "Dee" of Monmouth, Illinois and his brother Don (Jane) Olson of Houston, Texas. A number of cousins to include Karna Foster of Monmouth and Donna Harrell of Moline, Illinois. Four nieces and nephews survive Debbie Roper, Melissa Olson, Mike Olson, and Jon Olson and four great nieces and nephews. Stan is preceded in death by his Parents and several aunts and uncles. Services:A funeral service will be on Friday February 12, 2010 at 11:00 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday evening at the funeral home. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Research at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.
