Steven L. 'Steve' Ellis

Steven L. "Steve" Ellis, age 66, of Marietta, Illinois, passed away at 12:17 PM on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, Illinois. He was born on July 29, 1950 in Macomb, Illinois, the son of Louis K. and Patricia Ann (Rockwell) Ellis. Steve attended school in Macomb and graduated from Western High. On March 22, 2000 he married George Ann Stubblefield in Peoria, Illinois and she is surviving. Steve loved horses; his entire life was devoted to training and showing horses. He traveled the entire Country participating in numerous horse shows where he won many Championship awards. In particular Steve was proud of his participation in the World Championships, Madison Square Garden Show, and the Illinois State Fair. In his spare time, Steve enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his dogs. Steve is survived by his wife, George Ann, one son, James Ellis of Carmel, IN, one brother, Terry Wayne (Cindy) Ellis of Macomb, IL, two nephews; Keith (Tabitha) Ellis of Dixon, IL and Jerry (Stacy) Ellis of Antiock, IL, and two uncles; Charles Rockwell of Monmouth, IL and Ralph Rockwell of Moline, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents. Honoring Steve's wishes, cremation is being accorded. No services are planned. To honor Steve's memory and his love of animals, a memorial is being established for the McDonough County Animal Shelter.
