Terri "Sis" C. Hopping

Terri C. “Sis” Hopping, 71, of Galesburg, Illinois, died peacefully, Thursday, June 11, 2026 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.

Terri was born August 19, 1954, in Galesburg, the daughter of Wilbert and Constance (Burton) McLaren. Terri graduated from Galesburg High School and married Ricky R. Hopping on February 19, 1972 in Galesburg.

Terri is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ricky of Galesburg; three children, Scott (Angie) Hopping, Gail (Mitch) McMillan, and Brad (Heather) Hopping, all of Galesburg. Terri is also survived by her beloved six grandchildren, Emily Stogdill, Dylan (Emily) Hopping, Carson Hopping, Logan Hopping, Carter Clary, Jessica McMillan; and her adored five great grandchildren, Scarlett Stogdill, Ava Stogdill, Camryn Hopping, Layla Ayers. Including her parents, Terri, is preceded in death by three brothers, Jerry McLaren, Garry McLaren, and Larry McLaren.

In the 1980’s, Terri worked at K-Mart in Galesburg. She began working at Hy-Vee in the 1990’s and retired as a shift manager in 2012. For Terri, family was her life. She loved and adored each one of them. She absolutely loved attending her kids and grandkids sporting events and nothing could keep her from missing a game or event. Terri loved taking family trips to Wrigley Field to cheer on the Chicago Cubs.

Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
