Trudy A. Turner, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away peacefully at home on July 9, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on July 12, 1948, in Hartley, Iowa the daughter of Warren E. and Genevieve N. (Arnold) Grover. Trudy's spirited personality and warm heart endeared her to many throughout her life.
Trudy worked as a nurse tech for many years at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, where she displayed a profound dedication to caring for others. Her ability to connect with and cherish the people around her was evident throughout her life; she never met a stranger, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Family was always Trudy's first priority. She cherished family gatherings and was the glue that held her loved ones together. After the untimely passing of her mother, Trudy took it upon herself to raise her two sisters, showcasing her deep sense of responsibility and love. Her joyful spirit shone through in many aspects of her life, whether it was shopping trips or spirited outings to the casino with her sisters-in-law and niece. Trudy enjoyed watching murder mystery shows on ID.
On September 25, 1971, Trudy married the love of her life, James Andrew Turner, in Galesburg. Their love story began in high school but evolved into a lasting bond after Jim's military service. Together, they built a beautiful family. Trudy is survived by her children, Cheryl (Mark) Ahlberg of Galesburg, Robert (Kim) Turner of Oquawka, Illinois, Jerald Turner of Springfield, Illinois, and Tina (Steeven) Smith of Galesburg; three brothers, Joe (Vera) Grover of Arnold, Missouri, Dale (Renee) Franklin of Granville, Iowa, and Frank Grover of Missouri; two sisters, Joyce O'Neil of Knoxville, Illinois, and Mary Grover of Galesburg; as well as an adoring legacy that includes 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Trudy is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Jim. She is also preceded by her brother, Eldon Grover, and two sisters-in-law, Lawanda Krohn and Patty Bruner.
Trudy will be remembered for her unwavering love for family, her nurturing spirit, and the joy she brought to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to resonate through the hearts of her family and friends.
