Vera E. Burr

Vera E. Burr, age 86, of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at 4:30 am at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst, IL on Sunday November 18, 2012. Vera was born on May 27, 1926 in Biggsville, Illinois and is the daughter of Leslie V. and Mary E. Krow Perdue. Vera was raised in Henderson County and attended Pogue country school and Gladstone Grade and High Schools. Vera married James Orr Burr on March 13, 1948 in Gladstone, Illinois and he preceded her in death in 2008. Vera first worked at Wells Lamont Glove Factory and later at " Formfit " company in Monmouth. She also worked at the Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant in Middletown, Iowa, and at IRC / TRW. More recently she has been a cook at the local schools, she cleaned houses privately for a number of area families. Most of all, she was wife and homemaker for her husband and family. Vera and Jim sold their farm in 1989 and moved to Oquawka, Illinois in February of 1990. She is a member of Assembly of God Church in Burlington and is currently attends Faith Bible Church in Oquawka, Illinois. Vera enjoyed sewing, doing crafts, and gardening. Surviving is her daughter in law Debbie Burr Wirt of Burlington, Iowa. grandsons William and Mark Burr Two great grandsons Cody and Larry Burr One Sister Norma (Duane) Harden of Stronghurst, Illinois There are a number of nieces and nephews surviving. She is preceded in death by her parents, two adopted sons, her daughter in law, two sisters, and two half sisters. Services:A graveside service and interment will be on Tuesday at the Carman Cemetery, in Carman, Illinois at 11:00 am. Her family plans visitation, receiving friends from 9:00 am to 10:30 on Tuesday morning at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. A memorial funeral is being established for Faith Bible Church in Oquawka, Illinois
