Viola A. Seitz

Viola Anne Seitz, age 77, of Oquawka, Illinois died at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst on Sunday January 11, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. She was born on September 3, 1931 to Hubert N. and Voila [Beaman] Simons in Winner, South Dakota. She was educated in Mt. Pleasant and Burlington, Iowa and graduated from G&O High School, Henderson County in 1950. She married Melvin G. Seitz on October 8, 1976 in Peoria, Illinois. She was a homemaker and member of Faith Bible Church, Oquawka, IL. She was a 59 year member of the Order of Eastern Star in Monmouth, Illlinois, a member of the Galesburg Chapter of the Senior Circle, and FOE Auxillary 3629 in Oquawka. She is survived by her husband, Melvin G. Seitz of Oquawka, two sons Robert R. Slover, Peoria Heights, IL, Kevin H. [Lori] Slover, Nampa, Idaho, and one daughter Katherine [Phillip] Addy, Reynoldsburg, Ohio, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two brothers John C. [Carol] Simons, Souix Falls, South Dakota, Hubert W. [Myrl] Simons in Mississippi, a brother-in-law Charles [Dee] Smith in Omaha, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Orville R. Simons, one sister, Vallene M. Smith and one grandson. Services:In accordance with her wishes no calling hours or service is planned at the present. Cremation has been accorded. Interment of her ashes will be in the Oquawka Cemetery at a later date. A memorial fund is being established for the furnace and air conditioning fund at Faith Bible Church, Oquawka. Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka is in charge of the arrangements.
