Virginia Ann Johnson, age 78, of Monmouth, passed away at 11:22 p.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth. She was born on July 29, 1933 in Alpha, Ill., the daughter of Leonard Carl and Minnie Eleanor Larson Johnson. Virginia graduated from Alwood High School and later Attended Brown Business College for a time. She married Fay E. Johnson on June 15, 1951 in Woodhull, Ill., he preceded her in death on November 29, 2007. Virginia did secretarial work at several local business in Monmouth including Bankers Life Insurance Company, Gambles Skogmo, and the Formfit. She then was a homemaker, and took care of her family. Virginia enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren, playing cards, sewing, crafts, and gardening with her husband. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Monmouth, and was involved in several church circles. Virginia is survived by her children, Linda Ellison (Rodger) of Monmouth, Lonnie Johnson (Kathy) of Monmouth, and Regina Papineau of Monmouth. Grandchildren; Jason Clark (Cherie) of Moline, Ill., Erika Clark of Nashville, Tn., Hillarie Welsh (Mark) of Rosemount, Mn., Jon Ellison of Chicago, Ill., Jillian Keil (Adam) of Monmouth, Jenna Parkins (Brian) of Roseville, Ill., Lucas Johnson (Lauren) of Springfield, Ill., Doug Reynolds of Monmouth, Zack Johnson (Cameo) of Monmouth, Andrea Papineau of Monmouth, and Audrey Papineau of Fort Collins, Co.. Twelve great grandchildren and two sisters; Peggy Isakson (Dick) of Loveland, Co., and Loretta Johnson (Carl) of Morrison, Co., and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 10, 2011 at the First Lutheran Church in Monmouth. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth. Friends may call Sunday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, where her family will be present to receive friends. A memorial fund has been established for either the Monmouth Nursing Home or the First Lutheran Church in Monmouth.
