Vyola V. Osborne

Vyola V. Osborne, age 94, of Monmouth, Ill., passed away at 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at her residence. Born on November 16, 1915, near Swan Creek, Warren County, Ill., Vyola was the daughter of Richard A. and Martha J. McMurtry Hall. She was raised in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School. On August 4, 1939, she married Elmer C. Osborne in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on October 23, 2002. Vyola was a very active life time member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Monmouth where she served as treasurer for many years. For 34 years Vyola was employed by Jim and Hannah Foster at Wirtz Book Store in Monmouth. She enjoyed traveling. Surviving are two sons: Larry C. (Judy) Osborne of Altoona, Iowa and Gary L. (Eveleen) Osborne of Feeding Hills, Mass. Also surviving are six grandchildren, eleven great-Grandchildren and three Great-Great Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters and two brothers. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 23, 2009, at Immanuel Baptist Church. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth. Friends may call after Noon on Sunday at Turnbull Funeral Home where her family will be present from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. A memorial fund is being established for Immanuel Baptist Church of Monmouth.
