Walter E. 'Jr.' Johnson

Walter E. "Jr." Johnson, age 77, of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away at 7:06 P.M. on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth, Illinois. He was born on August 2, 1939 in Biggsville, Illinois, the son of Walter E. and Merle E. (Carnes) Johnson. Walter attended school in East Galesburg, Illinois. He worked in construction his entire life. Walter worked for Gunther's Construction and White Roofing, both in Galesburg. He enjoyed the outdoors; fishing in Wisconsin, camping on the Spoon River, and trapping in the area. Walter is survived by three sisters; Margaret (Mike) Rice of Pontiac, MO, Kathy (Andy) Neil of Sun City Center, FL, and Diane Johnson of Galesburg, IL, two brothers; Dean (Debbie) Johnson of Galesburg, IL and Lawrence (Marilee) Johnson of Knoxville, IL, one sister-in-law, Donna Johnson of Taylor, MO, his uncle, Swede Johnson of Biggsville, IL, and his aunt and uncle, Clifford and Maida Johnson of Biggsville, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James R. "Sonny" Johnson. Service As were Walter's wishes, no services are being held. Cremation is being accorded. Memorials made be made to a charity of the donors choice.
