Wanda L. Francis

Wanda L. Francis, age 79 of Los Angeles, CA, formerly of the Warren County area passed away on November 27, 2008, in Los Angeles. She was born on February 8, 1929 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Norris and Olive Kinney Francis. Wanda was reared and educated in the Warren County area graduating from Abingdon High School in 1947 and then attending Brown Business College. After working for Galesburg Glass Co. she worked for Continental Airlines as a payroll account manager for 45 years, retiring in 2001. Wanda enjoyed traveling especially coming home to her family in IL where she loved laughing and playing games. She was also an avid reader of books and would furnish her sisters and in-laws with the many books she had read. In her later years she still enjoyed reading, and watching DVD's while playing hand held games. Surviving Wanda is one sister, Vada L. Hannah of Cherry Valley CA. Six nephews: Douglas (Lorraine) Hannah also of Cherry Valley, Gerry (Muriel) Francis of Woodhull, IL, David (Linda) Francis of Naperville, IL, Scott (Chris) Francis of Woodhull, IL, Kip (Cindy) Kalin of Monmouth and Marty O'Neal of Raritan. Six nieces; Connie Dusek of Niota, IL, Becky O'Neal Raritan, Kathy (Kevin) Clevenger of Monmouth, Barbara (Brad) of Lonsdale, MN, Mary Kay (Shawn) Strachan of Reynolds, IL, and Ann (Jason) Danner of Oneida, IL. Also Surviving are two sister-in-laws, Barbara Francis of Woodhull and Hazel Francis of Media and numerous great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews. Her parents, three brothers, Gerald, Mike and Don Francis, and two sisters, Vera Kalin and Erma O'Neal preceded Wanda in death. Also two nephews, two nieces and a great nephew died before her Services:She was cremated in CA and brought back to this area for a memorial Service at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, on Dec 12th at 1:00 p.m. Her family will be present to receive friends from 12:00 until the service. Interment of her ashes will be in Center Grove Cemetery in Kirkwood. A memorial fund is being established. Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth is in charge of the local arrangements.
