William H. Benner, Jr., age 74, of Gerlaw, Ill., passed away at 6:28 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Marigold Rehab and Health Center in Galesburg, Ill. He was born on April 30, 1937 in Springfield, Ill., he is the son of William H., Sr., and Teresa Quinn Benner. He was reared and educated in Ohio and Galesburg schools. Bill served in the National Guard for a time. He married Junellyn Harvey on November 12, 1966 in Monmouth, she survives. Bill worked as a Route Representative for the Clean Towel Service, Means Service, Artex, and the Knox Laundry in Galesburg for 39 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, and camping with his family. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Monmouth for over 25 years. Bill was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth. Bill is survived by his wife, Junellyn Benner of Gerlaw, one daughter Kimberly Benner of Galesburg, Ill., one son William H. Benner, III (Julie) of Paxton, Ill., grandchildren; Felicia Benner of Galesburg, David Tuthill of Galesburg, Avery Benner of Paxton, Ill, and Finley Benner of Paxton, Ill. Also surviving is one sister Pat Lowery of St. Louisville, Oh., and one brother Donald Beckstead of St. Louisville, Oh. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services:A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth. Interment will be in the Gerlaw Cemetery. No visitation hours are planned by his family. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date.
