William W. " Bill " Haas

William W. "Bill"  Haas, age 75, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 6:35 am on Wednesday September 18, 2024 at the Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Bill was born on February 8, 1949 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the son of Wayne Noble and Florence Meyers Haas. He was raised in Monmouth where he attended local grade schools and later graduated from Monmouth High School with the class of 1967. Bill enlisted the United States Air Force in 1969 and served as a Sargeant during the Viet Nam War to 1973. Bill was united in marriage to Kathy A. Jacobs on July 8, 1978 in Monmouthi IL, and she is surviving him. Bill began work with the Monmouth Postal Service and the United States Government as a Letter Carrier and has carried various routes locally for over thirty years. Bill retired from there eight years ago in 2016. It was often said that the clock could be set by his delivery of the mail. Bill loved to play golf was an avid golfer at Gibson Woods Golf Course locally. He also had an avid interest in sports at the University of Illinois " The Illini " in Football and Basketball. He also was a St. Louis Cardinals fan and a fan of the Green Bay Packers. Bill enjoyed getting off work and going to have a beer with the boys locally. He is survived by his wife, Kathy A. Haas of Monmouth and his daughter Kristy Mueller and John of Woodridge, Illinois. They have two grandsons, Luke and Miles Mueller, at home in Woodridge, Illinois.  Also a number of cousins are surviving. He is preceded in his death by his parents and grandparents.

As were his wishes, cremation is being accorded; and a memorial service is being planned by his family at a later date. A memorial fund is being established for the Honor Guard of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, which may be sent to Turnbull Funeral Home in his memory.
