William L. Blake, age 77, of Monmouth, passed away at 7:45 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Marigold Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Galesburg, Illinois. William was born on April 30, 1931 in Monmouth, Illinois. He was reared and educated in the Monmouth and Henderson County area. He married Theda Charlene Thompson on October 17, 1956 at Sugar Tree Grove Church, she preceded him on November 17, 1991. William was first employed by his uncle Russell Blake doing water well drilling. Then he went to work for G. Olen Keister "Keisters" tire center for a number of years. He then worked at Western Stoneware for a number of years also. He finally went to work at Ralph Wells Pet Food for a number of years until his retirement. William is a former member of the Monmouth Eagles Aerie, and he enjoyed tinkering outside and around the yard. surviving William is one son; Chuck Blake Sr. and Lucretia of Moore, Oklahoma , granddaughters; Tamera N. Blake of Monmouth, Ranette M. Lindsey of Sacremento, California, Janie S. Culver and Joshua of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Grandsons; Charles C. Blake Jr. and Chrissy of Guthrie, Oklahoma, and Kris A. Blake of Monmouth. Also surviving are nine Great Grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one half brother. Services:A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2008, at Turnbull's in Monmouth. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery.
