William Dean "Bill" Campbell, age 73, or rural Biggsville, Illinois, passed away at 10:05 A.M. on Friday, June 16, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. He was born October 2, 1943 at Monmouth Hospital, Monmouth, Illinois, the son of Leland "Donnie" and Virginia (Slagle) Campbell. On May 29, 1970, he married Karen F. "Kay" Rowden in Yates City, Illinois and she preceded him in death on June 1, 2008. Bill graduated from Union High School in 1961 with the first graduating class at UHS. After graduation he joined the U.S. Navy. He then returned home and attended Western Illinois University for a year. He then worked at the Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant in Middletown, Iowa. In 1970, Bill moved to Orlando, Florida and worked for Authorized Service. In 1978, the family moved back to Illinois and he and Kay opened a appliance and repair store Authorized Appliance and Repair in Biggsville, Illinois. Bill then went to work for Community Medical Center, Monmouth, and later OSF Holy Family Medical Center as the head of the maintenance department and Vice-President for a time. He retired in 2012. Bill was a member of the Rozetta Baptist Church. He was the head of the committee that added on the overflow sanctuary and basement. In Bill's life, he believed that family was most important. He enjoyed woodworking, stained glass, hunting, mushroom hunting, and ginseng hunting. Survivors include one son, Tim Campbell of Pekin, IL, three daughters; Anita (Bruce) Smith of Biggsville, IL, Debbie (Brad) Graham of Cropwell, AL, and Cyndi Campbell of Pekin, IL. Seven grandchildren; Shana (Brett) Kennon of Reno, NV, Alicia (Gavin) Mitchell of Enid, OK, Ben Graham of Cropwell, AL, Noah (Hannah) Graham of Moody, AL, Sarah Campbell of Pekin, IL, Kelly (Justin Adkins) Hall of Chatham, IL, and Justin Stadler serving in the U.S. Air Force in Honolulu, Hawaii. There are five great-grandchildren; Ava and Andrew Kennon of Reno, NV, Emersyn Mitchell of Enid, OK, and Brooke and Abbey Hall of Chatham, IL. Also surviving is one brother Lee (Wilma) Campbell of Pittsburg, PA, three sisters; Louise (Gene) Crawford of Pocatello, ID, Marie Fisher of Stronghurst, IL, Elsie Morris of Gladstone, IL, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Kay, sister Carol Huntley, and brothers-in-law; Wendell Fisher and Richard Morris. Visitation Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 also at the Church. Funeral Service A funeral service is planned for 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Rozetta Baptist Church in Rozetta, Illinois with Pastor Jim Bennett officiating. Burial will be in the Rozetta Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for the Rozetta Baptist Church or the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
