William "Bub" H Bundy

William H " Bub " Bundy, age 77, of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at his home on August 20, 2012 at 3:45 pm. Bub was born on November 17, 1934 in Gladstone, Illinois and is the son of Chester C. and Bertha Tracy Bundy. He was raised in Gladstone where he attended local school and G & O High School. William enlisted in the Army in and was a Private E2 serving for four years. Bub first was married to Jeannine Mathews in 1957 and she passed away in 1975. He then was married to Hazel Hull on May 12, 1976 in Oquawka, Illinois. She preceded him on September 22, 2004. Bub worked for thirty years and a member of the union at Maytag in Galesburg for thirty years and his retirement in 1984. He also ran an auto repair shop in Oquawka out of his home garage until his retirement in 2009. Bub always enjoyed auto repair and tinkering with cars and engines. He also enjoyed bowling and fishing and building cars with his children and grandchildren. He is a member of the Oquawka Eagle Aerie 3629 and enjoyed bowling, fishing, and playing card with the neighbors. Surviving is one daughter Cheryl (Larry) Lain of Oquawka, Illinois, and three sons Bill (Nancy) Bundy, Rick (Tammy) Bundy, and Donnie (Veronica) Bundy, all of Oquawka, Illinois. There are twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He has four brothers, Charles and Larry Bundy, of Oquawka, Illinois and Donald and Dean Bundy of Gladstone, Illinois. There are two sisters Evelyn Montroy of McRay, Arkansas and Sue Hull of Gladstone, Illinois. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, his wives, two daughters and one grandson. A funeral service will be at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois on Friday August 24, 2012 at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois with interment with military honors in the Carman Cemetery to follow. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Turnbull's in Oquawka on Thursday evening Memorial funds are being established for either M D A or " Out of the Darkness " Services:A funeral service will be at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois at 10:30 a.m., Friday August 24, 2012 at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois with interment with military honors in the Carman Cemetery to follow.
