William F. Lovdahl, age 80, passed away at 12:50 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2008, at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth. Illinois. He was born on October 14, 1927 in Warren County the son of Carl Oliver and Eliza Jane Bishop Lovdahl. Bill was reared and educated in Monmouth attending Hornbeck School and Monmouth Schools. After high school graduation Bill left for Munich, Germany serving in the U.S. Army from January 1946 - June 1947. He married Marilyn Cudd on February 12, 1950, in Monmouth. She survives. Bill has a farmer all his life. Bill was a member of the First Lutheran Church and The Hawkeye State Archaeological Society of Iowa. He was an avid gardener and an avid Cubs fan. Bill is survived by his wife Marilyn Lovdahl of Monmouth, three daughters Peg Key of Buffalo Valley, Tennessee, Melissa Soucy of Melbourne, Arkansas, and Gina VanWinkle and Roger of Galesburg, Illinois. one son Terry Lovdahl and Patrice of Purvis, Mississippi, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister Matilda Shimmin of Monmouth, one brother Carl Lovdahl and Mary Ann of Lynn Center, Illinois, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one brother and one infant sister. Services:Cremation has been accorded. A graveside committal of ashes with military honors will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2008, at Gerlaw Cemetery. No calling hours are being planned by the family. A memorial fund is being established by the family.
